Timmi Davis

Timmi Kwaku Davis is an Afro-German multimedia artist and filmmaker based in Berlin/Germany. His artistic work reflects on his identity as a Black German and is dedicated to promoting visibility and empowerment for Black communities—both in Germany and internationally.

His short films, which have screened at international film festivals, address themes such as migration, postcolonial violence, Black family realities, and tokenism in the advertising industry.

​

In addition to his own artistic film projects and curatorial-educational film programs, T.K.D. works professionally in the camera department for advertising, feature films, and series. Since 2010, he has set foot on over 400 film sets around the world in various roles and possesses profound knowledge of camera, lighting, grip handling, blocking, development of creative shot lists, editing and directing.​

He has led film workshops in Burkina Faso, Senegal, Hamburg, and Berlin, most recently the creative empowerment writing workshop “HERE I AM FROM”, in collaboration with EOTO e.V. and the Sarah Maldoror Context Series.

As part of the DAAD exhibition “If the Berlin Wind Blows My Flag”, he presented the work “subjektiv zensiert” (subjectively censored) in collaboration with Yehudit Yinar.

He is currently pursuing a Master's degree in “Art in Context” at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK), where he researches traditional oral knowledge transmission practices of the Akan peoples in Ghana. His work focuses on a decolonial VR-based artistic research experience exploring spirituality, ancestral memory, and the digital preservation of knowledge.
